Custom "Dialling Guides" - Analemmatic Sundial (Human Sundial) If you are interested in a custom designed "Dialling Guide" for a "human sundial" here is what we have to offer:
Figure 1 illustrates two "human sundials" designed for two different locations in the Northern Hemisphere. They indicate solar time. This sundial is an excellent project for a school yard, playground or park.
Figure 1: "Human Sundials" The minimum time interval for all the "Dialling Guides" is 5 minutes. The Hour Lines for the Date Scale are for days 1, 5, 6,10, 11, 15, 16, 20, 21, 25 and 26 of each month. Just select the time interval you want for your sundial from the template provided. The "Dialling Guide" designed for local apparent or solar time is specific to your latitude. A "Dialling Guide" designed for zonal solar time has its hour points shifted. The degree of shift depends upon your longitude relative to your time zone meridian. This shift can be as much as ±30 minutes. This results in a sundial that is unique to your location. The layout of your sundial using any of these "Dialling Guides" is done using the instructions provided with the free "Dialling Guides". The "Dialling Guide" comes in a table format. There are 2 different "Dialling Guides" you can request: 1. Analemmatic Sundial: Local Apparent Time, sizes of 2 metres and any
other size you request IMPORTANT: For "Dialling Guide 1" you must supply your latitude. For "Dialling Guide 2" you must supply your latitude and longitude. Visit the "Links" page at the North American Sundial Society web site and you will find sites that can help you determine your latitude and longitude. Perhaps you may know someone with a GPS unit....even one in a vehicle. There is a cost for the custom "Dialling Guides" as follows:
